The two sides of World War One consisted of:

Allies:

  • United Kingdom and the British Empire; this included many colonies and semi-independent nations, which today would be: India/Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada.
  • French Republic and French Empire; this included forces from North Africa (the Morocco/Algeria/Tunisia area) and a few from Indochina.
  • Kingdom of Belgium
  • Russian Empire
  • Kingdom of Romania
  • Italy
  • Greece
  • Japan
  • United States
  • Serbia
  • Montenegro
  • Brazil
  • Portugal

There were others; see the link below for a complete list of all countries which eventually joined the Allied side.

Central Powers:

  • German Empire
  • Austro-Hungarian Empire
  • Kingdom of Bulgaria
  • Ottoman Empire

Not all countries joined the war at the same time.
