Rommel The first battle of el Alamein was a stalemate. However, the British did stop the Axis advance into Egypt and to the Suez Canal. In that sense it was a British victory. The second Battle of El Alamein was a decisive British victory beginning the Axis rout west to defeat.
Germany's final counterattack was the Battle of the Bulge.
Battle was between the Japanese and American carrier groups in the Pacific. The American battle group was positioned north and east of Midway islands. The Japanese battle group was positioned north and west of the island. Midway island is west of the Hawaiian islands.

The only allies involved in this battle was the Soviets. This was because initially at the time, it was the German advance into Russia, so the other allies couldn't help. As well, it be nearly impossible to help as at the start of the battle, the western front was in a intense phase and allies in west such as Britain and US needed the resources they had to fight of the Germans.
The Battle of the Bulge was not among a series of steps to the ultimate downfall of the Third Reich. The loss of the 6th Army at Stalingrad was the arguable first signal. The Battle of Bulge was a last stand of sort on the Western Front for a German Army starved of supply and most importantly oil. The Battle of the Bulge was a German counter attack. It was their last hope in the West to stop the advance of American and British forces. The breaking of the German stand allowed for the Allied armies to enter the German motherland from the West, ultimately surrounded them on both sides (with the Soviets closing to the east).
