Britain lost virtually all of its colonies. Canada, South Africa, and Australia became independent member of the Commonwealth that morphed into the United Kingdom. India gained its independence in 1948 along with Pakistan. Only The Troubles in Ireland took decades to resolve. Singapore reverted to mainland China, and Hong Kong, eventually, became an independent city-state.
