Yes, he was a Civil war General, fought for the union. Pretty chill.

[edit] The British 'christened' the M4 'Sherman' following a trend of naming US built tanks after U.S. civil war generals. Also the 'Lee' and 'Grant'... the names were quickly adopted by U.S. forces.
