According to the Holocaust History Project website, Hitler did not even have a step-father, Alois was his father. Most historical sources indicate that there was no Jewish background in Hitler's family, illegitimate or otherwise, but rather one of mental illness that he wished to hide.

It has been rumored and speculated that Hitler's grandfather may have been Jewish only because no paternity for his father was ever established. No one knows that answer for sure.

There is no evidence that one of Hitler's grandparents was Jewish, just rumors. Hitler ancestry was Austrian. He came from a peasant background, and Jews were not allowed to be peasants.
