According to recent articles, U.S. Marines have withdrawn from Iraq completely as of early 2010. The Marines handed over control over to the U.S. Army at that time, which began an accelerated decline of American troops and involvement in Iraq.
Currently, there are only a few thousand US soldiers deployed to the Middle East, but during the height of the surge in Iraq, there were 130,000-150,000 US soldiers in Iraq alone.

While troops have been downsized drastically in the past year or so, it is widely believed that there are as many as 10,000 troops still on the ground in Iraq. We hope that they are all returned home safely and soundly as soon as possible.
