If you mean both the Axis Forces and the Allied Forces the answer is not specific because there were millions and millions involved from the larger countries, Japan and all the smaller Asian nations. China alone had 1.2 million fighting in the war. Japan had about 5 million people participating in the war and they lost about 3.8 million in the war. The US had over a million in the Pacific War too. The Aussies had hundreds of thousands too. So if you added up ALL the fighting peoples from many countries it could get close to 10 million in the Pacific War itself.
Kia: 19733 plus Missing:4778. Missing means can't find enough to make an ID. As in: blown to smithereens or washed away in the outgoing tide and were eaten by sharks. The above numbers include the Marines that died in the Atlantic, Europe, Africa and elsewhere aboard Navy ships, for example. There were more than 6000 or so stationed out of the Pacific theater, so assuming the loss rate of about 2 to 3% which is typical for the European theater, about 120 to 180 died out of the Pacific theater. I have not found the exact number as yet.
