Well if it did, it is likely that the rest of the world would be scared that the US may Nuke them too so they would fire nukes at the US. That is why it is called a nuclear deterrent. The only time you can use Nukes with impunity, is if you were the only country to have them (as at the end of the second world war).

Nuclear bombs is what keeps us from raging war at other countries. Other countries have WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction) and if we/they decide to nuke one-another then the other country will react in violence and send their own nuke to the country who originally sent the nuke. So countries who are owners of nukes don't want to be bombed, and they know if they do decide to nuke us/them then they two will be bombed. The con side is owning nuclear weapons strikes fear into many people. Nuke destroy cites and takes many human lives. Nuclear war is feared by many people almost everyday. Probably, no but the USA. has the biggest and best nuclear defense system. It is likely that if another war starts the USA. will not need to use its nuclear defenses such as, atomic and atom bombs. Though if a war gets to intense the national defense system will retreat and a nuclear war will begin. More reasons are treaties and reliability. The USA. cant nuke Canada because of the treaty, but if the treaty was broken the economy would fall since the US depends on major imports from Canada. The US cant nuke Mexico because the treaty too which is the North American Free Trade Agreement. The US cant nuke Mexico because Mexico is the most important country to the US before China for the Corona and Coca-Cola companies. these companies from Mexico export trillions of bottles of soda and beer every year.
