The french attacked fort necessity because they wanted to claim the fort for France.
In the first failed attack not much resulted. (George Washington almost died) The second (successful) attack directed by Pitt turned the tide for the British. Fort Duquesne then became renamed Fort Pitt (becomes Pittsburgh).

The Spanish attacked Fort Caroline before they gave up and founded the settlement of St. Augustine. In 1548
The Spanish attacked Fort Caroline in 1565 as part of their efforts to establish control over Florida and eliminate French presence in the region. This was also driven by religious tensions between Catholic Spain and the Protestant French Huguenots who had settled at Fort Caroline.
They were hoping that it would help them conpuer Mexico By founding the Fort Caroline settlement, France attempted to gain a foothold in a worship freely and building a base from which to attack the Spanish ships.
