Of course, a good night's sleep makes you feel energized and alert the next day. Being engaged and active not only feels great, it increases your chances for another good night's sleep. When you wake up feeling refreshed, use that energy to get out into the daylight, do active things, and be engaged in your world. You'll sleep better the next night and increase your daily energy level.

Doctors say 8 - 10 hours of sleep, but I feel that most people don't have the time to sleep for 9 - 10 hours if working. Part-time, double shifts, and some companies start early in the morning. The body goes through sleep cycles of one and one half hour increments. The amount of time it takes for you to go from beginning sleep to rem sleep (deep sleep) and awakening sleep. If you wake up during the deep sleep, you feel groggy and unrested. So try to sleep either 4.5 hrs, 6 hrs, 7.5 hrs or 9 hrs. That way you wake up at the appropriate time, at the end of the sleep cycle and are fully awake and fully rested.
