Most likely, you'll either vomit, or suffer very minor scrapes in your digestive tracts. This probably would be a rather painful process, but after initial consumption, it may not get any worse. Unless you use an old dirty staple, then the cuts created by the staples run the risk of becoming infections

It may just come out with their next bathroom trip providing it's small enough. If they feel odd at all in the next few days they should call a doctor but they should be fine.
