This depends upon what you mean by "veterinary surgeon". In the United States, a veterinary surgeon is understood to be a board-certified veterinarian who has specialized in surgery; these individuals typically make $150,000 or more per year. However, outside the United States a veterinary surgeon is understood to be a veterinarian with no specialized training; these individuals tend to make $80,000 to $100,000 per year with experience.

A veterinary Nurse within the UK, once fully qualified and in a stable job, is likely to be looking at around £28000 per year. however, you need to do a Foundations degree and an advanced top up at university/college to get this wage. with them qualifications as a head nurse you would be looking at around £32000 - £38000 a year.

without these qualifications, perhaps £12000-£15000 a year, a Head nurse earning up to £30000 a year

In the United States, a veterinary nurse is called a veterinary technician, and a trained vet tech with a formal degree can earn up to $20/hour or more depending upon location and experience.

In the United States, the average annual salary for veterinarians is ~US$90,000. Because California has a generally higher cost of living than the average, it is reasonable to expect that veterinarians in California also make more than the average, although exact numbers are not available.

Has anyone on this website ever thought to Google their questions? Geez...don't be so lazy. In the USA: The median annual wage of veterinarians was $82,040 in May 2010. A more exact number would require more detailed location info, as cost of living is a large factor to income.
