They are accurate within 2 or 3 days. But this does not mean that you will have the baby on your due date. Babies can be born any time between 37 and 42 weeks. That is what midwives are taught anyway. With my first my ultrasound said I was due 10 days after my period date but my husband had been away on a trip form the day after conception! Second time around the ultrasound agreed completely, and showed twins. (now 16) == Your last known period date or the date of conception is a better predictor....as all babies are different & you may have an extrememly large or an extremely small baby for it's gestational age, and when compared against babies in the "norm" the due date could be way off.

In the first 8 or 10 weeks, transvaginal ultrasound is very accurate, usually to within 2 or 3 days. After this time period, it becomes less accurate, varying up to 1 week if the ultrasound is performed late in the 2nd or in the 3rd trimester.

The farther along you get, the more accurate the ultrasounds get, but usually, they are pretty accurate from the beginning. It just depends on how far along you are when the ultrasound is done.

Its pretty acurate. If not completely it will be off by a day or so but not as much as a month.

How accurate is an ultrasound if you do not remember your period?

If you do not remember the date of your last period you can have an ultrasound to determine your due date. More than one ultrasound throughout your pregnancy may be required because ultrasounds are not always accurate. They could be out as little as a couple of days by a matter of weeks.

Can you get an accurate due date from vaginal ultrasound at 5 weeks?

You could but keep in mind that it could also very much change depending on how the baby is measuring at the midway ultrasound. Even then the due dates are just estimates!

There is a 12 day difference in due dates ultrasound confirms an earlier date and LMP is a later date Which is more accurate?

I go by the LMP, but even then I had mine early.

If you cheated on your husband on Nov 20and your due date is Aug 11 when did you conceive?

The conception day would be 11/18/2008, based on you're due date. You're due date is more accurate in the early stages of pregnancy. SO if you got an ultrasound in you're first 12 weeks, it is pretty accurate. Good luck sweetey!

Is it possible to be further along in your pregnancy than what your ultrasound says?

When they do an ultrasound, they measure the baby's head and that's how they determine how far along you are. So if your baby's head is smaller than average, then they would give you a farther due date; If it's bigger than average they would give you a closer due date. Please remember your due date is an estimated guess, not the actual date you will absolutely deliver It depends how much the difference is and at what stage you have the ultrasound. At six weeks ultrasounds are accurate to within 2-3 days, by 12 weeks they are accurate to within 4-5 days and by 20 weeks they are only accurate within 5-7 days.

If an ultrasound at 14 weeks showed your due date as Oct 2 and an ultrasound at 20 weeks showed the same but a 28-week scan gave a Sept 23 due date could you have conceived before Dec 12?

Absolutely not. The later in pregnancy the less accurate the scan. The first two giving a due date of October 2nd will be correct and give you a conception date of around January 9th.

I had two period in april lmp was april 27 i got an ultrasound scan and it said i was due jan 27 is that accurate?

If you have went to the doctor and they gave you a due date then it is right. They go off what you tell them.

Hi I havent had a period since Jan 09 Im 19 weeks pregnant and my due date is 4th Jan 2010 How can find out when I conceived?

Based on you're due date you most likely conceived april, 13 2009. If you had an early ultrasound in you're first trimester then you're due date is pretty accurate.
