The concave mirrors provide a magnified reflection of whatever is being reflected. Since the doctors - and especially dentists - are often looking for small details in the reflection, this can be quite useful. This is often carried to an even higher level by surgeons who wear magnifying binoculars while conducting delicate surgeries.
