The word image means "In the likeness of". So when you read that someone is in the image of his father it simply means that not only do they look alike back in most cases act the same. So when we read that Christ is in the image of His father, it means that they are the same in form and have the same purpose.
Yes, they did make us! The Elohim Extra-Terrestrials look like us, Gen 1:26 And Elohim said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness.

We do not know.Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. But, as no-one has reported what God looks like, or what his image is, we can only speculate on how we match.

Genesis 1:26New King James Version (NKJV) 26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
We can understand about God the Mother through the Bible. Let us study through the Bible to discover the existence of our God the Mother. Gen. 1:26-27 『Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness..." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.』 The above verse states that God has two images-a male image and a female image. Until now, we have only known and called upon the male image of God: "Father." Then how should we call upon the female image of God? Logically, we should refer to God's female image as "Mother." This is why God had said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness."
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Genesis 1 [New International Version (Bible)]
