Thats a very good question. Unfortunately if the Romans had a symbol for zero, it has not been discovered. You see, when writing numbers such as 1000, 100, or 10, they would simply leave it as M, C, or X, the zero implied. They didn't have much use in writing a plain and simple zero, though, so they never made it a symbol.
