Answer
The Bible is ambiguous on the issue of killing other people, offering quite opposing guidelines.

On the one hand, the Ten Commandments say, "Thou shalt not kill."

On the other hand, Exodus 22:!8 says, (KJV) "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" or (NIV) "Do not allow a sorceress to live." In other words, it seems to command that anyone practising rituals other than those approved in Judaism should be killed.

The Book of Joshua contains several references where God was said to command the Israelites to commit genocide.

Answer:

The Old Testament of the bible is strongly against the killing of Israelites, except where there has been a clear violation of God's commandments. Killing other people's in warfare is perfectly acceptable. In the New Testament, Jesus argues against violence of any sort, even preaching forgiveness for those who break God's laws.
