Self-preservation and suicide is not directly addressed in the Bible but has been discussed for many thousands of years. If a person believes that to die with un-confessed sin is a reason for damnation then it could be a real catch-22. If a person believes that God has forgiven you of all sin past, present and future then the only mortal sin is the rejection of Jesus as your Saviour.

There does not appear to be a Kentucky Statute that defines suicide or attempted suicide as a crime. KRS 216.300-308 deals with assisted suicide which is a crime in Kentucky.
