There is a design of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. on the back of the penny. Also are the words "United States of America" and "E Pluribus Unum" and, lastly "One Cent".
ONE CENT and the motto E Pluribus Unum, meaning "Out of many, one" which refers to the fact that the US is one country made up of many states and many people.

E PLURIBUS UNUM is NOT a type of silver dollar, it is the national motto. The coin is a MORGAN dollar. Assuming the coin is circulated without any mintmarks, an 1879 retails at $30.00-$40.00 depending on the actual grade of the coin.
