Covetousness lead to the first false god in The Bible were in Genesis 3:4-6 Eve was told that she would be like God if she disobeyed and ate from the tree. And so she did. She exalted herself to the point of becoming equal to God in her own eyes, thus making herself a god. Self-worship.
