Pretty much the same as maids everywhere. They typically have soft soles and good ankle support and flats. At least that is what all the maids I saw in France were wearing.

Maids in the 1940's wore black dresses with very little white, black shoes. Their hair was either half up, half down, or in a bun/ collected updo. Hey DID NOT wear gloves, it was considered impolite for the help to wear gloves.

in the 1940s they would use mosley lipsticks a dark red or a light color only few people would ware fouundation and lots of them did wear eye liner
in maids quarters or there own home kinda like marry maids they come and clean and then go home to there family and then clean for them it never stops PS what did you think under the stairs or in a box out back it 2010 wear do you live.
