- in the 18th and 19th century, black cats where kept by fisherman's wives to ensure their husband's safe journey while they where gone.
- in England, Scotland, and Australia it is good luck when a black cat crosses your path.
- black cats where also put on boats to kill mice, and if the cat was thrown, or fell off the boat, it was bad luck.
some statistics show that black cats (along with other plain colored cats) are one of the least adopted animals from shelters. My opinion is that black cats, even though they look like any other black cat, they have their very own personalities which makes them cool, and unique. I see no reason why other cats are more wanted or valuable than black cats.
