A fair price to pay for a used John Deere 4100 is $7,000 to $15,000 depending on the year and condition. I would go no higher than $15,000 for a newer model.
I am not sure if you are looking to purchase a brand new John Deer 4100, or perhaps a used one. The prices vary greatly, and I am sure that it may also depend on where you live. The prices I found vary from $7,000 for used up to $16,500. http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/list.aspx?ETID=1&Manu=JOHN+DEERE&Mdltxt=4100&mdlx=exact
