Why is your pug gagging?

There could be several causes as to why your dog is gagging. It could have something stuck in its throat, it could be trying to vomit, or it could be having an allergic reaction to something it ate.

Well I am not a vet but i do have 2 dogs and when they gag is usually if they swallowed something they cant swallow, i wouldn't worry unless your dog keeps gagging, it might be sick, if your dog shows any other signs of being sick, please go and see your doctor.

One reason is he has something sticking to the back of his throat. For example, a popcorn Kernal, or peanut butter.

The best thing to do is to take your dog in to see your Veterinarian. It could be kennel cough. Your pet will sound like something is caught in his/her throat, a dry hacking, unproductive cough. Or your pet might have something in his throat but I doubt it. Only your Vet can diagnose this correctly and give you the necessary medications. If it is kennel cough your pet would need to be on a cough suppressant and antibiotics to prevent a secondary bacterial infection.

Probably because he did not digest his food correctly. You know, like when you take a drink of water and it goes down your air pipe? You make gagging noises right? Same with your dog. I know this isn't a very good explanation, but I'm just trying to help.

pugs only gag becuase either they ate something like grass or they want your attention
