This could be either a habit the dog developed or a mineral/vitamin deficiency. First of all clean up after the dog immediately so there is nothing laying around. Add some pineapple to his food just for a couple of days. The pineapple has certain enzymes that make the feces smell different to the dog and he will not eat it. Observe your dog and watch how he reacts. If this works ok, if not check with your vet maybe he can give you a vitamin/mineral supplement.
