I have had several pets come to "visit" after they died. I think they are checking up on their owners. I had one cat who use to sleep on the foot of the bed and one night I could feel the cat jump on the bed and walk across it even though I couldn't see him. My Scottie died at home and she stayed around for awhile. I would "catch" sight of her every so often in her favorite spots. One night I came into the den and was on the computer without the lights on in the room. I heard her walk in, lay down on the sofa, move the blankets around with her paws, and the jingle of her dog tags. I thought it was the dog I have now, but when I finally went to bed he was still asleep on the foot of my bed. He hadn't moved while I was on the computer. That was the last time I heard/saw her. The visits from my pets make me feel close to them still and has a certain comfort. Our bonds are still there.
