I have always heard that American Bulldogs inherited their black spots because of the breeding from Dalmations and certain hunting retrievers such as the English Pointer. Mostly the white dogs are the ones with the spots and as they get older the hair actually grows darker i nthose spots. My AMBD was white as a puppy and as he matued he developed brown freckles where the black spots were on his back. Of course he was covered with black spots but only developed the brown spots on his back. Hope this helps.
They are generally cream or brown, but some bulldog breeds can be red or even black. Spots aren't too common, but there is a chance.
It's just part of their breed, same as a dalmation having spots, and a beagle havign white paws; it's just natural.

Cheetah spots are typically black on a golden yellow to tawny fur background. The spots help the cheetah camouflage in its natural habitat, allowing it to blend in with the grasslands and bushes where it hunts. The unique pattern of spots on each cheetah is like a fingerprint, with no two cheetahs having the exact same spot pattern.
The bird that lays blue eggs with black spots is likely a songbird called the American robin (Turdus migratorius). The eggs of American robins are commonly known for their distinct blue color with black markings.
