Since the Bering Strait land-bridge joined North America to Asia during the last ice-ages. That was also the time the camels spread into Asia.
The United States law that was enacted in 1971 was the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burros Act. This law protected the animals from being captured, branded, harassed and killed.
...if it looks like a wild horse that lives on the southwestern plains of the United States... You're welcome. kclaire
Wild horses are found all over the world. However, most feral horses are actually decendents of domesticated horses that escaped in the past. The only truly wild horse is the Przewalski's Horse, which can be found in Mongolia. Other feral horses can be found in the mountains and plains of the western United States, on some islands of the eastern coast of Canada (Sable Island) and the United States (Assateague Island), and in Australia.
All horses breeds with the exception of a few wild horses carry the scientific name of Equus ferus caballus. The Tarpan(Eurasian wild horse) is Equus Ferus Ferus. And the Przewalskis horse is Equus ferus Przewalskii.
Alaska is the only state without wild turkeys. Many people think Hawaii would not have them but Hawaii does have wild turkeys.
The best thing i believe is to keep the horse in the wild. I do not believe in taking any animal from its home in the wild. I wish not to do this because an animal may and can get sick from being away from its own home. So from my prospective just don't take the horse from his/her home. Would you like it if you were taking away from your own home? If you truly consider taking the horse from his home check with the vet to make sure there is nothing wrong with the wild horse.
some where in the wild if its a wild horse... other wise its a barn and its not a wild horse.......
The United States.
In the United States, it is illegal to sell wild horse meat for human consumption. If wild horses are slaughtered, their meat is often used for pet food or other non-human consumption purposes. In some cases, the meat may be exported to countries where the consumption of horse meat is legal.
In the United States there are many different breeds of horses. Popular breeds include the Thoroughbred, the America Quarter Horse, the Appaloosa, the Paint, the Pinto, the Palomino, the Arabian, the Standardbred and the Saddlebred. Also, there are many wild mustangs in the West as well as Chincoteague ponies off the coast of North Carolina. Basically any breed of horse that exists anywhere the world is probably also in the United States.
Within the United States, the only difference between a feral horse and a wild horse is in the legal definition. A feral animal is one in lives in the wild but whose ancestors were once domesticated. By the standard definition of feral, wild horses living on public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management are just that - feral. However, the Free Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 put them into a classification of their own which deems them simply as wild. Ironically, it's possible for a wild horse to step over the thin blue line only seen on a map and suddenly be considered feral.
The Prezwolskis Horse of Mongolia and parts of China are pretty much the last real wild horses in the world. The Mustangs that roam the western United States are ferel horses. Meaning they were once domestic and reverted to the wild. There ae wild cousins, five different types of zebra.
