They don't generally in Virginia due to the fact that we don't have extremely cold winters warranting the need to hibernate. But they will hibernate if it gets cold enough just like the other species that live in colder climates.

And polar bears eat seals but if hungey, fish. And they hibernate in snow mountins when they have cubs. Same with Black and grizzley bears
