If it's at a long ways away, take a picture of it.
If it's too close for comfort, avoid eye contact, DO NOT RUN, and back away slowly, going back the way you came. Hopefully it will not try to stalk you nor will try to attack you; you have a much higher chance of getting attacked if you stare at it in the eye, or if you try to make a mad dash for safety.
