If polar bears become extinct then not only will we loose a beautiful creature but there will more than likely be a rise in the population of their favorite prey which could result in problems such as out eating of their habitat/over harvesting of those animals favorite prey. All animals have a role in the ecosystem.
If polar bears extinct, then the food chain and ecosystem will be affected. Also we will lose these great animals!

All humans living on this planet right now are in charge of doing their part to protect these magnificent creatures from the threat of extinction. And we can not sit by idly and assume that what happens to these bears doesn't affect us.

They are the top predator in the Arctic. If their habitat and food sources are not preserved, they will move closer to humans to hunt and forage which places all humans in the area at risk. They may eat our pets, stock, and perhaps even us.

We should protect them and their environment from climate warming and from the melting of their ice hunting grounds. They are adapted so well to the cold that they could have problems with overheating and hyperthermia if the conditions warm too much.

We should learn as much as we can about them and their needs and habits.

We should demand that oil production be moved from their ecosystem and that man stops the negative impacts and pollution in their territory.

Protect them from pollution. Poisons and toxins from pollution are a current major concern since being at the top of the food chain, they are eating poisons from all the animals beneath them on the chain.

Assure that governments not only continue to protect them by law, but also in practice. Allow no sport hunting. Wear none of their fur. Protect their habitat.

Start planning now for how we can improve their reproductive rates and protect them from climate change.

If the glaciers melt, that means that the floating Arctic ice has also melted, so the polar bear's habitat has disappeared. The surviving bears will have moved onto land where they may mix with brown and other bears, meaning the true polar bear will be extinct.

There is already substantive evidence available proving that as the temperature of the environment has increased the frozen areas native to the Polar Bear are rapidly disappearing and along with it the eco systems they rely on for food. Their numbers are already in the "great concern" category

As long as only the south pole melts and not the north pole, there shouldn´t a lot happen to them as they don´t live in the south pole. lol
