Your lactating dog should be eating during pregnancy and beyond a premium quality puppy food. My dog is four weeks post partum, and she is eating 18 cups of kibble per day, prior to me moistening it with water. It is best to add water to the kibble (hot water), let it cool down, and then feed it to her (the mother) warm. I do 6 cups of puppy kibble to 6 cups of hot water, cool it down a bit, and then hand feed her. Yes, it is a bit gross, but it also gives her extra liquid in her diet, which helps with lactation. As soon as you think your dog is pregnant, get her on the puppy food, until the pups have stopped nursing. Hope this helps.

Continue to feed her a high quality food and she should be fine. You may need to increase the amount you are feeding; especially when the puppies are born and she is nursing. There are prenatal vitamins available for dogs which would not hurt to add to her diet.
