Cut to the Quick was created in 1982.
Hi,Hold each paw as you work and spread the toes. Be careful to stay away from the quick, which is easier to cut into than you think. The quick is the end of the toe's blood vessel, so if you cut the quick, the toe will bleed. Here are some guidelines in trimming your dog's nails:http://dogtime.com/nails.html
It means chop
Seriosly... why would u ever do that????? You would do this if your dog has a split/cracked toenail or have been cut to short to expose the quick. Yes you can use superglue to mend the nail together or stop the bleeding. They do make specific styptic gel for this purpose as well. If you have cut the quick, or trim your dog's nails regularly, it's best to have this on hand. If your dog's nail is cracked, super glue it together to mend it.
The expression Cut to the quick has two different meanings. The most common of these uses "the quick" in the sense of a very sensitive part of the body, and refers to UNDER THE FINGERNAIL. The expression "cut to the quick" when used in this way means to hurt, deeply distress or emotionally wound. Variations of this expression such as "touched to the quick" or "stung to the quick" can be dated but to the early 1500's, although the current "cut to the quick" was considered a cliché from around the 1850's onwards. The second meaning, although not so commonly used, is used as another way to say get to the point. This version of "cut to the quick" is also known as "cut to the quip".
You should clip your dogs nails only a little bit at a time. There is something called a "quick" in dog's nails. If you cut into the quick then the nail will start to bleed and it will have hurt the dog, to a point to that they dog won't let you clip their nails anymore. If you clip the nails a little bit say once a week, the quick will start to recede, making it safer to clip your dogs nails without hurting them.
No, are you nuts?! you should never cut a dogs tail off, it is very panefull and all dogs need tails.
It is a natural instinct for dogs to dig for quick escapes out of barriers.
