A wolf is the pure wild animal, simply, a wolf. Wolf dogs are hybrids of pure wolves with domestic dogs. They range from being as little as 15% wolf to 98% wolf. They are very difficult and demanding animals to handle and should not be considered pets because the wolf aspect of their nature is very unpredictable and dangerous even in the lower percentage wolf dogs.
no it is not legal to keep any wolf/wolfdog of any kind in kentucky.
There arent any actual pure wolf breeders. Any breeder who claims to sell pure wolves, especially arctics, to private owners does not actually have pure wolves and is selling wolfy looking dogs. There are many reputable high content wolfdog breeders, such as The Wolf Crossing, Wolf Creek Habitat, and Southern Breeze. If its your first wolfdog I would suggest a low or mid content. It would be best to get one from a wolfdog rescue (there are many). There arent many good low or mid content wolfdog breeders. I can suggest you check out Southern Breeze and Harvest Moon Wolfdogs.
They look almost exactly like a pure wolf.
White Fang was a wolf-dog hybrid known as a wolfdog. He was a mix between a wolf and a domestic dog.
There is no such thing as a silver wolf.
"White Fang" is a novel by Jack London that follows the life of a wild wolfdog in the Yukon Territory. The main content involving the wolfdog, White Fang, includes his struggle for survival in the harsh wilderness, his experiences with different masters, and his eventual transformation from a wild animal to a loyal companion. The novel explores themes of nature versus nurture, the bond between humans and animals, and the instinctual behavior of wild animals.
A wolf-dog hybrid (also called a wolf hybrid or wolfdog) is a canid hybrid resulting from the mating of wolf (Canis lupus) and a dog (Canis familiaris). The term "wolfdog" is preferred by most wolfdog proponents and breeders since the domestic dog was recently taxonomically recategorized as a subspecies of wolf.In first generation hybrids, gray wolves are most often crossed with wolf-like dogs (such as German Shepherd Dogs, Siberian Huskies, and Alaskan Malamutes) for an appearance most appealing to owners desiring to own an exotic pet. Since wolf hybrids are genetic mixtures of wolves and dogs, their physical and behavioral characteristics cannot be predicted with any certainty.
You should always buy raw meat for your wolfdog.
There is no definitive answer to this, because all wolfdogs have different dog content and so each is different. They probably run anywhere from 30-45 mph, however. Also, 90% of wolfdog ads/breeders are scamming people, so google wolfdog misrepresentation and study up if you ever want a wolfdog.
yes.. most likely. They are from the both type of spiecies within variations, so I believe that is a yes answer. Yes. Theyre called wolfdogs. There is a common mistake of calling them "hybrids" which they are not since the domestic dog was reclassified as a gray wolf subspecies. You can google "wolfdog education" or "wolfdog misrepresentation" for more information on wolfdogs.
