THE AVERAGE DOSE of Trileptal (prescribed for partial seizures in adults, and for children age 4-16 with epilepsy) is ADULTS & CHILDREN 16 YEARS OLD AND OLDER: 600 - 2400 milligrams per day and CHILDREN 4-15 YEARS OLD: 3 3/4 mg. to 4 1/2 mg. per pound of body weight (up to 600 mg.) to start, then can be increased to 1800 mg. if needed. It is also prescribed for PANIC DISORDER.
The dose may be increased by a maximum of 600 mg/day at approximately weekly intervals; the recommended daily dose is 1200 mg/day.
It is possible that excess of any medication or product can be life-threatening. Trileptal is no different. The prescribed dose is set for a reason and going outside that parameter will cause serious consequences which may be life-threatening.

I have been on Trileptal for 5 years and went from 1800mg to 2100mg 1 1/2 years ago. My blood pressure is rising even though my diet and activity level have remained the same ( fair enough - not high in fats or salts). I am 37. I am wondering if it is the Trileptal. Lithium (which i also use) supposedly does not cause hypertension.
80 mg of methadone is the average nationally..... its not a high dose and its not a low dose its the ....... average dose. im on 55 and i am feeling great.
