a rocky mountain horse
Rocky Mountain horses come in all colors. A black horse with a white mane and tail is a cartoon horse. It doesn't happen in real horses.
______
Dark colored horse with white main and tail doesn't exist outside Cartoons? I have a miniature stud where I work that proves that idea wrong. Raja is a dark liver brown in body and has a bright white mane and tail. We call his color "steel and chrome" and from what I've learned, it's very rare. That's why I'm praying that the mare we breed him to drops her foal very soon. Praying the baby is female and looks JUST like her father because we have too many studs and I need to sell Raja.

It's color is called chocolate.
You dont normally see a horse with a true black body and white mane and tail. There is a color called chocolate with a flaxen mane and tail. this is where the body is a dark brown (some times apears black) with a white/golden mane and tail. When the horses body is white and the main and tail are black this is a form of hte color gray
Yes, he was a white horse with a black mane.
A 'white' horse with a black mane and tail would really be a grey horse that has not finished going completely white coated. A grey horse no matter the shade of it's body hair will always have grey skin, while a truly white horse will have pink skin.
Yes. It is possible to have a dark base color and a light mane and tail color for a horse. ADDED 8/7/10 It is possible to have a dark base color and a light mane and tail color for a horse (flaxen gene), but it is NOT possible for a true black horse to have a white mane and tail, or even a brown mane and tail. It can sun bleach a bit, but will darken back up as new hairs grow in. It will never be white, unless coated in snow. The flaxen gene, which is what gives a horse a lighter colored mane and tail, does not affect black pigment, only red.
There is no such thing as a horse with a blue mane and white skin. However a grey horse (has grey or black skin) can have a light grey mane which could appear blue in the right light and a white looking coat.
The term "palomino" refers to a horse with a golden coat and a white mane and tail. For a horse with black and white patches, the correct term is "pinto" or "paint" horse. These horses have coat patterns of large patches of white and another color, which can include black, brown, or chestnut.
A palamino is a golden horse with a white/cream mane and tail and a pinto is a black/brown and white horse

White
Well it depends, if you mean white as in dominant white, then no the entire horse would be white. If you mean white as in a grey horse gone white, it is possible, though not seen much, typically the mane whitens along with the rest of the horse.
This particular horse colour is commonly called a buttermilk buckskin. The body itself isn't exactly 100% white, but rather a light cream colour which appears white at first glance.
there are two, dun which is a beige colour with a black mane and tail and palomino which is slightly paler with a white mane and tail.
