Additional Thoughts:Dogs like people have personalities, and they display these personalities readily. Names should communicate some aspect of that personality, or perhaps humorously contrast it. For instance, it is not out of place to name a four foot tall great Dane Stilts, or to name a 200 pound mastiff Tiny.
Frankly, the dog doesn't care. For the first month or so, she is not even going to make the connection between the grunts, pops, and sibilants you spit at her with herself. It will take time for her to make the connection, and frankly no small amount of work on your part.
Besides, what I might name a female toy poodle and what you would name one is likely to differ quite a bit.
Just for the record, if I were to own a toy poodle--and I'm not personally fond of any of the toy breeds--I would be inclined to name her Boudica or Elizabeth Bathory, possibly even Akasha (from Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned), much as I might name a male Phobos (fear) or Deimos(dread).
