A mammal.
A mammal.
Polar bear is definitely a mammal. Many scientists and zoos classify them as a marine mammal due to the amount of time they spend in the water swimming from ice flow to ice flow looking for seals, but they are mammals who nurse their young like any other mammal.
There may be complications in classifying organisms based on their anatomy (bodily structure). This is because their anatomy may compose of features of and share characteristics of different species. These animals will therefore make it difficult for scientists to classify them as being from one species. For example the platypus has a duck's bill and birds only have beaks. However it also has an otter's foot and a beaver's tail. It feeds its young with lactose milk which makes it similar to the mammal except it does so without nipples. It however also lays leathery eggs which makes it similar to the reptile. When such complications arise scientists classify these organisms based on the group the organism share the most amount of characteristics with. In the case of the platypus, scientists classified them as being a mammal.
A kiwi is not like a mammal. It has all the characteristics necessary to classify it as a bird alone.
they give birth to live young and produce milk
Mammal
Humans are in the animal kingdom, the mammal phylum, and the primate order.
A seal is a mammal.
A biped organism has 2 feet like a gorilla or ape! It is a mammal.
Biologists may use an identification key to order or classify a specific group of animals, for example frogs and bears. You immeadiatly see that one is an amphibian and one is a mammal but scientists use these for the minor details.
