The only answer in this case is supervision. A dog can't be house trained on the spot. So don't let him out of your sight and catch him when he starts to get on or near the furniture. Once a dog has toileted on your furniture, be sure to completely remove all odor. Remember that a dog's nose is much more sensitive than a human's. He'll be able to smell minute traces even if you can't and even after you have thoroughly cleaned with regular household cleaners. So use an enzymatic cleaner such as "Nature's Miracle," to break down the molecules so he can no longer smell them. This and similar products are available through a local veterinarian or pet store.

Male cat's spray but a female cat will urinate on furniture. If you get them fixed they won't spray. Make sure their litter box is clean. Spray your furniture with orange or lemon scent cat's can't stand that scent.
while cat and other animals age thy loose control of some of there senses, including the nerve that allows the brain 2 tell the cat when it needs 2 urinate.
You put catnip on the cat furniture.
Make sure the old urine that is on the carpet is thoroughly cleaned up. Use some vinegar to help to cut the smell. Make sure your cat has easy access to a nice clean litter box. If the litter box gets dirty, then the cat will go elsewhere so keep it clean and changed.
To stop stray cats from urinating around your bushes you can try a number of things. Some say that red pepper or coffee grounds help if you sprinkle it around the areas. Natures Miracle is a spray that will help to remove the smell which will also help stop them from marking.
Your cat may have bladder stones (this happened to me) and wants to find a comfortable place to urinate, as the litterbox is obviously less comfortable than a bed.
Make your cat less attractive
Take him to the vet to find out what is wrong. If the litter box is kept clean, most adult cats will use it unless the cat is ill.
You don't make friends with your cat. You just do what it wants and eventually it will stop fussing at you.
Well I put little spikes on where my cat scratvhes so he wont scratch it anymore.... The spikes are not that sharp to make him bleep it just hurts. If that doesn't work then you should try a originial idea of yours. By the way you can get the little spikes at the dollar store.
