I know Chihuahuas were bred to fight snakes in Mexico. Emperors loved them because they would keep their house free of snakes. Chihuahuas nowadays don't usually go head-to-head against many snakes, but I know that is their original enemy.
Well, since chihuahuas are small, they are scared of a heck of alot of things. But they also are mad protecters, so they could be used to scary things. If your dogs atitude is pretty out going, you really don't have to worry. But puppies and pampered pets will freack out at ( only some) cars, cats, and sometimes to toys you get until they are used to them.

Chi's should never be left unattended when outside or when there are other animals or children around.
