We have a Welshie/Jack Russell mix who is 15 and going strong, despite spending the first seven years of her life churning out pups in a notorious puppy mill. Aside from a few stray white hairs, she can still pass for half her age. She runs like a gazelle, dances, etc. Long may she continue in good health. Nothing is written in stone when it comes to dogs' longevity, especially terriers.

Before adopting a jack russell terrier you need to find a reputable place to adopt or purchase the dog. You want to make sure all shots and paperwork is up to date and you want to be able to register the dog. Depending on the age of the dog, extra precaution may need to be taken when the puppy is very young. Food, and water staples are common but more new owners forget to get the food!
He should be neutered if by the age of six months if he only has one testicle, as he could get cancer in the one that hasn't dropped. My Jack Russell has the same and that's what my vet told me.
