They say if the mother cat doesn't show them how, that one needs to show the kittens how to use a litter box. Mine didn't show hers and at 6 weeks I took each one and sat them in the litter box and took their front paws and showed them how to scratch in the litter and all it took was that one time and they all used the litter box then.

there isn't a specific age of when a cat is litter trained. Kittens naturally use the litter when they know they should. When the mother uses the litter box and the kittens watch, the kittens become curious and wants to try it for themselves. But when they start, they are usually 2 1/2 weeks or maybe older. They start using it when they start climbing basically.

You do not have to litter train your cat, it is born with the knowledge to do that. All you have to do is show your cat the litter box a couple of times. It is a good idea to do this as soon as you get your kitten home.

kittens are predisposed to use a litter box, as soon as they are big enough to climb into one, in the mean time help them in, as soon as they are "done" you can lift them out again. they do it automatically, hilarious to watch!

About 5 weeks the mother cat shows the kittens where the litter box is and what it is used for. Shortly thereafter 6-8 weeks the kittens use the litter box. Some sooner and some a little later. My experience has been that they are using the litter box by 7 weeks.

My kittens started using the litter box at 6-8 weeks, when I showed them how to scratch in it. Mother cats will show her kittens how to use the litter box around this age as well.

You should get a litter box as soon as possible. Better to start "potty" training at a young age

A kitten should be introduced to a litter box as soon as the mother is not cleaning up after them and/or they are eating kitten food. They learn pretty quick.
