First (if your dog throws up in the car, this is a bad idea) get your dog in the car. Get something your dog likes: treats, toys, etc. Don't shut the car door, (it might put pressure on the dog) but do keep a leash on the dog. Start the car up (don't mind the beeping of when a car door isn't shut) but get the thing your dog likes and give it to the dog. If the dog jumps out, try it again with the door shut. It worked on my dog. For more info email: cheywalksdogs@gmail.com
There is no set dog dimensions that an automatic dog door will support. This is because automatic dog doors are available in many different sizes, from small to large doors.

There are many kits available to a person so that they can install a dog door on their patio. Start by making sure you have bought the right size door for your pet, check that you have the right tools and that all the pieces of the kit are there and then just simply follow the directions provided by the company.
Give them a treat to follow them in or pick them up Put a dog car harness onto your dog and have the tether already installed and set up in the car for safe travel. Leave your back seat car door open, walk your dog around the car to familiarise him. Get into the back-seat of the car yourself and encourage your dog in with a treat, gradually more until your dog will get up on the seat. This may take time, especially if your dog has previously been scared of going in a car. Spend time in the car with your dog and fasten the dog seat belt so that your dog can move comfortably yet remain safely restrained in one place. For the first ever car journey it is best to stay with your dog whilst someone else drives, so that you can calm your dog/distract him if necessary. Time and patience is needed for some dogs, others just take to it first time.
If your dog can open the sliding door, you can use a broom handle to keep the door shut by wedging it so that the door will not slide. This will allow a child to open the door and block the dog from opening the door. You could also keep the door locked and teach the child how to unlock the door.
The best place to purchase a dog car seat would be to purchase one through a large pet store. Large pet stores like pet smart will have dog car seats available on the shelves without having to order one and wait until it is delivered.
Try a potty patch. If you can get him to use it move it slowly towards the door everyday. Also a doggie door might encourage him to go out there if it is a convenient option that is always available.
