You didn't give us much information on your dog. If the dog was from a former owner or you got it at the ASPCA then the former owner could have been cruel when the dog ate (even tormented it) or, the dog was never fed well in the first place. I got a nice little Cairn X named 'Lady' from the SPCA in British Columbia in the 70's (best little dog ever) and she did the same thing. My husband and I knew that the former owner, although not cruel was extremely strict about the dogs eating habits and was high on commands (letting the dog sit for Lord know how long before being allowed to eat.) I ended up on the floor stroking Daisy and encouraging her to eat. It took about a week and she was fine after that. I also introduced chicken off our own plates and let her see me do it and then put it on top of her dog food (never give a dog scraps off your plate and feed them from the table because it will make them beg.)

It would be to your best interest to take your dog to the vet and be sure that your dog doesn't have a bowel obstruction of any sort or that the dog may need a special diet. Dogs can get cramping, may not have bowel movements or your dog may be suffering from something else. Don't second guess your pet and when in doubt take the dog to the vet.

Um....it is a bad sign when a CAT trembles while eating. They might be cold or they could be having difficulty eating. To get all the facts straight about your cats health have it checked by a vet then explain about the trembling.

What can a cat have that is weak and eats alittle?

MOst domestic animals including cats do not express that they're ill or in pain very well. And in the wild, this is just as well, as showing weakness can be detrimental. Howeverm diagnosing cat ailments, especially at home, is very difficult. That your cat is not eating is a bad sign. That your cat is weak is worse. You need to get this animal to a vet.
