There is a special website you can go to, in order to check out high or low your dog food is rated at and why. The name of the website is called Dog Food Analysis at: www.dogfoodanalysis.com Click on Reviews and then type in the name of your dog food in the search bar. The dog foods are rated from 1-6 stars, with 6 stars being the highest. Authority was from 1 star to 3 stars depending on which type you fed. It seems to have a lot of wheat & corn & beet pulp in it but still not bad. This website did not recommend it, at least the two kinds I looked at. I feed Innova and it is a 5 star one. Another good one that is a little cheaper is called Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul with many to pick from, all rated at 4 stars. Learn to read the label of your dog food. You should NOT see things like By Products, Wheat, Beet Pulp, Corn, etc. You want to see things like Chicken or lamb or Chicken or lamb meal which is the good parts of the animal. By products mean they used the bad parts of the animal such as beaks, feet, etc. Yes Canidae All Life Stages is another good one too.
Answer: Authority is a good one as "over the counter" foods go. However, as the parent of 18 dogs, mostly rescues, we have had great luck, and health, with Canidae All Life Stages food. It is somewhat more expensive than over the counter brands, but one feeds less of it so it works out to be comparable.
