A staillion is a male horse over the age of 3 that is able to re-produce. A male horse that is over 3 but unable to re-produce is called a gelding. A stud is a stallion that cna give out coverings- these are offers for your stallion to produce a foal with another persons mare. If you have a mare entirely for breeding they are called BroodMares.
