The price of the chinchilla itself will vary on the color.. you should get a decent size cage and that will cost about $200. then you need all kinds of safe accessories for the cage and how much you spend depends on you, but you can spend another $100..
but once you get those items, you won't be spending that again.
quality food is actually cheaper than garbage food, and it's not that much, niether is hay.
vet bills can be very expensive. i have four and this year i had a problem run through my chin room and i spent 1000. but for three years i didn't spend antyhing in vet bills.. so its hard to say, but have a savings aside in case you need to go to the vet.
The pet store.
In the UK, the price of a pet chinchilla varies from £20 to £200.
a great low maintinence exotic pet would be a chinchilla, they are quiet inexpensive, lovable trainable, you can find everything you need for it at a local pet store, they don't bite unless provoked and so easy to clean and care for. My 13 year old daughter has one and she took care of it by herself. we've owned him for three years and we love him to death. I think this pet would be perfect *************************************************************************** A great low maintiance exotic pet could also be a corn snake they are one of the smallest pet snakes you can buy and they only need feeding and cleaning once a week and water changing every day. Of course a chinchilla is a great pet too my friend has a chinchilla and he is great fun i have a snake and he has already become a member of the family, i must warn you though snakes do like for 15-20 years so they are a big commitment.
A chinchilla may relate as a pet if you have him from birth. But remember they are wild creatures.
real needy... gotta spend time with a pet chinchilla every day or they get depressed
i dont know but do you want a pet chinchilla because i have one for $100 and it comes with shedding for the chinchilla too lay on and it comes with chinchilla food

an exotic pet is aeuphemismfor a wild animal.wild animals do very poorly in captivity. If you care anything for the animal in question do not force it to be a pet.
