Hello, If the scratch is on the actual eye itself then you cannot treat it with anything except cold water on tissue paper and gently wipe the exterior of the eye. Make a appointment with your Vet so he can examine your dogs eye and advise you on any necessary treatment.

The short answer is, with difficulty. Cats are notoriously difficult to keep from pawing at their eyes and even more difficult to get eye drops into. In general, if the injury can be left to heal on its own, it is; at most, a veterinarian may put a small E-collar on the cat to keep it from scratching at its eye. If the eye requires more hands-on treatment, a veterinarian is likely to have the cat hospitalized until it can be handled at home.

It is important to have the eyes checked out by a DVM. In some cases the eyes could become worse causing ulceration which can lead to more serious issues. In some cases the eyes are so infected and scared they may need to be removed. This is called an enucleation.

A Veternarian may also give a baby kitten antiobiotic eye drops, or wipes specifically for newborn and small kittens.
