Expect dogs to be fixed and vetted before adoption. These groups will conduct an interview and home visit to be sure that your home is dachshund friendly, then they suggest a dachshund that will be compatible with your home (small children, cats, etc.).

∙ 13y agoIt all depends on where you get it from,try to go to a place just for dachshunds, usually they are the best place's` to look,or you could place an ad where you live and ask for one that someone has gotten and really can`t take care of and they are looking for a good free home and very little cost you`ll be surprised at how many people get dogs than change their minds.

∙ 13y agoIf you're careful, just as much as the average small dog. If you're not careful and let it jump up on the furniture, stairs, etc., it will break its back and that is some major $$$ for surgery there. You also have to be careful that they don't get into anything because many dachshunds will eat stuff like acorns and you have to do surgery to get that out.
