Usually, a mare will be used for breeding multiple times in her life, but it is quite an ordeal for a mare and you should not breed her right after foaling.Even if you do it will not even work because a mare has to be in heat to have a fertile foaling.
A mare is an adult female horse.
The first heat that occurs a few days after birth is called a Foal Heat. Breeding a mare on a foal heat is possible, but sometimes not the best thing for the mare. As a result many breeders do not breed on foal heat. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
A sterile mare is a female horse that cannot breed.
8 to 10 days
Horses can breed multiple times throughout their lives, usually starting around 2-4 years of age. Factors such as health, age, and breeding practices can affect the frequency and success of breeding. It is important to consider the well-being of the mare and stallion to ensure safe and healthy breeding.
Foundation stock (mares and stallion) are the progenatiors of a whole breed or a bloodline within a breed. A foundation mare should have as near perfect conformation as possible and have a very good temperament. At some point they should also have had a decent show career / record to prove they are worthy of breeding. The same thing applies to stallions. If you are trying to create a new breed (not a good idea there are enough breeds already) then you'll want a mare with the qualities you are looking for in the new breed. If it's to start a new bloodline within an already existing breed, then all of the above still holds true, but you'll need the mare to be registered, as well as any stallion she is bred to. It can take decades for a new bloodline to take off, so breeders must be patient and not over breed.
You want to get your horse to have its baby in May, So breed it in June
By a mare and a stallion meeting. You get the gist.
In heat or in estrus.
There is no lead stallion. There is Alpha Mare. SHE leads the pack. But a stallion in the pack would breed with most every mare.
Mare is the feminine. Mare means adult female horse. Stallion is the masculine or Gelding if it's had surgery so it can't breed
